The governors have invested a great deal in our ICT provision and it is encouraging to see students working in school from first thing in the morning until last thing in the afternoon as well as during lunchtime. With the ever increasing amount of ICT facilities it is important that we work together to maintain them properly and ensure that they continue to be available for use.

We need to ensure that the students do not eat or drink in any of the ICT rooms as this will only lead to facilities being damaged. and that they don’t disturb others. The computers are to be used properly and with consideration.

The use of ICT in lessons should be planned in advance and the facilities should only be used where this will aid learning as part of a co-ordinated scheme of work. In particular, staff need to consider when and if students should produce hard copies of their work.

Use of the facilities during lessons should be pro-actively monitored during lessons by the responsible staff and any misuse of the facilities – whether physical abuse to the equipment or misuse of software or the internet – must be logged on e-portal.

Remember that student can access powerful resources outside lessons through the web-site access and Google-docs available to each and every one of them.

Staff using ICT Rooms should ensure that the rooms are left as you would expect to find them. It is the responsibility of any member of staff using ICT facilities to ensure that the individual computers are turned off at the end of each day. It only takes a few seconds to correctly shutdown the computers at the end of a lesson.

However if computers are left on it takes support staff a lot longer when locking up at the end of the day. Chairs should be put back under desks at the end of each lesson and any litter put in the bin.
