World Book Day

Every year Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School actively promotes World Book Day. Pupils and staff are invited to dress up as a character from a book, with the best dressed DEAR group and best dressed individual winning a prize. The dressing up part is fun, and always stimulates great humour on the day, but World Book Day serves an important purpose, as it reminds pupils about the importance of reading.

The pupils also take part in various activities on the day and during the month of February – March, all designed to stimulate a love of reading. This year all key stage 3 pupils are being given a ‘free book’ as a gift from us to them, in a bid to encourage them to read more at home.

Below you can take a look at all the weird and wonderful costumes from previous World Book Day celebrations.
