Physical restraint of students

The advice is to avoid physical contact with students as far as possible. The use of reasonable force is acceptable where a student’s actions cause a risk of physical injury or damage to property or will risk the maintenance of good order and discipline at the school. Reasonable force is not defined but should be proportionate to the circumstances and seriousness of the behaviour. The level and duration should be the minimum necessary.
